Small Wood Chipper Safety Guide: Tips You Must Know
Before using the chipper, please make sure to:
Read and fully understand the user manual
Inspect the machine for any loose bolts, cracks, or worn parts
Clear the work area of stones, metal objects, or other hard debris
Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety goggles, gloves, ear protection, and non-slip footwear
Never feed material by hand—always use a wooden stick or pusher
Do not open the blade cover or housing while the machine is running
Maintain a stable stance and keep hands, feet, and loose clothing away from the feeding chute
Avoid overloading the chipper with excessive or oversized branches
Keep children and untrained individuals away from the working area
Turn off the power immediately and wait for all moving parts to stop
Never attempt to remove blockages with your hands
Use proper tools to safely clear the material
Inspect the blades after unjamming to ensure there’s no damage before restarting
Turn off the engine or power and unplug the machine (for electric models)
Clean out any remaining debris from the hopper and discharge chute
Check the blade and drive belt for wear and replace if needed
Store the machine in a dry, ventilated area to prevent rust or moisture damage
Periodically lubricate moving parts and inspect the power system
Feeding materials by hand
Not wearing proper PPE
Operating with loose clothing or long hair exposed
Allowing children or pets near the running machine
Ignoring unusual noises or vibrations during operation
